Insurance & Payment Options at Arpella Physical Therapy
Effective February 1, 2026
Our primary commitment is to you —
the person in front of us, not an insurance company that has never met you, touched your body, or listened to your goals.
Arpella Physical Therapy is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS).

Arpella Phyiscal Therapy has one goal in mind:
To provide the highest-quality, whole-body care without limitations that interfere with meaningful outcomes.
What This Means for You
Cash-Based (Private Pay) Care
Most of our patients receive care through our direct pay model, which allows for complete transparency and flexibility.
Benefits include:
One-on-one sessions with a Doctor of Physical Therapy
Longer appointments and fewer total visits
Transparency from the start. No surprise bills months later
A plan of care designed around your lifestyle, activities, and long-term health
Many patients are surprised to learn that once deductibles, copays, and multiple weekly visits are considered, private-pay physical therapy is often comparable in cost — and significantly higher in quality — than insurance-based care.
Out-of-Network Insurance & Superbills
For patients with out-of-network benefits, we are happy to help.
We provide superbills after each visit for submission to your insurance company
Some insurance plans allow us to submit claims on your behalf in an out-of-network setting
Reimbursement varies by plan and is determined by your insurance provider
We are always happy to help you understand your out-of-network benefits and guide you through the process if questions arise.
Why We Chose This Path
We deeply respect the medical insurance realm including Medicare and the role it plays in providing access to care. However, over time from a Physical Therapy provider entity it has become increasingly difficult to deliver the type of care we believe patients deserve within the constraints of the traditional insurance-based model.
Insurance-driven care often:
Limits how much time we can spend with you
Restricts which areas of the body can be addressed
Emphasizes volume over individualized attention
Focuses on “medical necessity” rather than full recovery, performance, and long-term wellness
By shifting towards the cash based self pay model, we are able to:
Treat the entire movement system, not just one body part
Spend more uninterrupted time with each patient
Build plans of care based on your goals, not visit caps or billing codes
Emphasize injury prevention, balance, strength, and confidence — not just symptom relief
In short, this allows us to practice physical therapy the way it was intended to be practiced.
What options do Medicare beneficiaries have?
If you are a Medicare beneficiary, you have two clear options:
1. Continue care at Arpella through private pay
Many Medicare patients choose this option because it provides:
*More time with their therapist
*Individualized, hands-on care
*Fewer visits with better outcomes
2. Receive care at a Medicare-participating clinic
If staying in-network with Medicare is your priority, we are happy to:
*Provide a list of trusted local physical therapy clinics that continue to accept Medicare
*Help ensure a smooth transition of care when needed
Our ultimate goal is always to help you move forward confidently — whether with us or another provider.
Traditional in-network physical therapy clinics have appointment slots that average around 15-30 minutes and the one-on-one time with your doctor during that visit is typically less than half of each visit. Insurance companies begin providing coverage once your deductible has been paid. Physical Therapy visits typically cost between $140-$250 even after paying your copay. Healthy individuals that rarely use the medical system or their health insurance plan will find that direct pay Physical Therapy ultimately saves them money and gets them a much higher quality of service. Insurance companies have lowered the rate that they reimburse physical therapy services consistently, and continue to lower them each year. In order to combat this lowering of reimbursement, insurance-based Physical Therapy companies have had to take on a huge number of patient volume to the point where they are attempting to see multiple patients at the same time. When you spread your healthcare providers that thin, nobody wins. We have made the decision to not allow you to settle for subpar healthcare.
Our Philosophy
We believe physical therapy works best when:
Decisions are made in the treatment room — not by a third party
Care is centered on the person, not the diagnosis
Progress is measured by real-life function, not just discharge criteria
At Arpella, our contract is with you.
That clarity allows us to deliver care that is honest, intentional, and designed for lasting results.
As our wise mothers have always said, “Treat others the way you would ultimately like to be treated yourself”.

Thank you for the trust that you place in the Arpella Team
We look forward to taking this journey with you each and every day to keep you feeling well with all that this great life has to offer!
